Case Studies

Case Study 1

Anna suffered with Pelvic Girdle Pain from 16 weeks pregnant. Following the birth, her chiropractor recommended she start Pilates.

On meeting Anna, I decided to send her to well-known specialist in Pelvic Girdle Pain for further investigation. Working alongside the therapist’s recommendations we started to focus on releasing the tension in her back, mid back, waist, glutes and inner thighs. Anna was also recommended to work on her postural alignment.

Case Study 2

Gemma has had two babies, the last in 2016, both being 8lbs or more. A women’s health physiotherapist in one of Bristol’s maternity hospitals recommended she attend a postnatal focused group.

When Gemma first joined the class, we agreed she still had a diversification (diastasis recti / abdominal separation) of 4cm, and that her mid line was still quite soft. The focus of the group is to try to teach better connection to the deep abdominal muscles and pelvic floor function as well looking at how we can transfer this into everyday activities.

Case Study 3

Rob and I have been working together since 2011. He came to me after he was discharged from his physiotherapist following a quad bike accident whilst on holiday. He still had a very pronounced limp and change in his walking gait. He also lacked confidence to fully trust and use his right leg due to the damage done.

Initially we focused on improving his confidence and the stability and strength of his lower limbs. We then looked at his posture and stress management. After 6 months, Rob had made a huge improvement and we were able to start using a treadmill, first to walk on but then built up to running.
